Madeline A. Wilson

Madeline A. Wilson, 75, of Anderson, Mo., was called to heaven at 8:38 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Freeman Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Mo., following an illness.
Madeline began her journey on Aug. 5, 1932, in Weslaco, Texas, one of four children born to the late Albert Arco and Covella (Thomas) Arrington. Madeline married the love of her life, George Wilson, on Jan. 7, 1952, at Wichita, Kan., and to this union four children were born. Madeline loved gardening, growing beautiful flowers, reading, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a friend to many. She was of the Methodist faith. Her grandchildren will always remember her as a confidante and attentive listener.
Madeline was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, George Wilson on April 28, 1980; an infant son, David Herman Wilson; a son, Michael Anthony Wilson; and a brother, Donald Arrington.
Surviving family include: one son, James Alan Wilson and wife, Nancy, of Joplin, Mo.; two daughters, Michelle Roark and husband, Jamie, of Anderson, Mo., and Michaelene Myers of Joplin, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Jill Missik of Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Glenn Brady and wife, Judy, of Harlingen, Texas; a sister, Alberta Janssen and husband, Don, of Webb City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, Teresa Wilson, Aubrey Elmore and husband, Nick, Dezeray Edwards and husband, Sean Paul, David Boles and wife, Tiffany, Jennifer Boles, Abagail Boles, James Wilson, Brandon Prince, Christina Zimmer, Aron Zimmer and Adam Janes; six great-grandchildren, Taylor Prince, Zane Boles, Lydia Zimmer, Tyler Zimmer, Kyler Zimmer and Talee Boles; along with many friends, neighbors and other relatives who will deeply miss Madeline.
Funeral services for Madeline Wilson were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Mo. Pastor Tom Ellis officiated. Burial followed the service at the Anderson Cemetery in Anderson, Mo.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 29, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family received friends at this time.

Clinton Franklin Whitehead

Mr. Clinton Franklin Whitehead Jr., 42, of Lanagan, Mo., departed this life suddenly on Monday, April 28, 2008, at his families business in Lanagan from injuries received in a structure fire.
Clinton was born on Jan. 11, 1966, in Bakersfield, Calif., born to the union of Clinton Franklin Whitehead Sr. and Catheline Smith. He was raised in Bray, Okla., where he attended school. For the last five years he has called Lanagan, Mo., his home. He was the shop keeper for Cathys Treasurers in Lanagan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Franklin Whitehead Sr. and a sister, Melody Tune.
Clinton is survived by a son, Nicholas Whitehead of the state of Texas; his mother and step-father, Cathy and Bud Barnhart of Lanagan, Mo.; two brothers, John Tune and wife, Charlene, of Grove, Okla., and Melvin Branch and wife, April, of Anderson, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

William Oral Long
June 11, 1935-May 2, 2008
Mr. William Oral Bill Long, 72, of Goodman, Mo., departed this life on Friday morning, May 2, 2008, at the Seneca House in Seneca, Mo.
Bill was born on June 11, 1935, in Phoenix, Ariz., the only child born to Oral and Viola (Schell) Long. On May 17, 1958, in Phoenix he was united in marriage to Ruth I. Thurman and to this union two sons were born. He worked for various garment factories in the Phoenix area as a sewing machine mechanic. In 1989 he and Ruth moved to Granby, Mo., and on to Goodman, Mo., in 1997. He most recently worked for Sunbeam in Neosho as a security guard. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking projects.
Bill is survived by his wife on nearly 50 years, Ruth Long of the home; two sons, Oral E. Long of Goodman, Mo., and Michael W. Long and wife, Wendy, of Stark City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Carrie Howard

Carrie Howard of Springfield, Mo., died April 7, 2008, of a sudden illness.
Survivors include her mother, Velma Lindenfelser of Lanagan, Mo.; her father, Joe Howard of Modesto, Calif.; three sisters, Shirley Bennett of Neosho, Mo., Brenda Howard of Modesto, Calif., and Tonya Howard of Ceres, Calif.; and three brothers, Chuck Howard of Neosho, Mo., Waylon Howard of Southwest City, Mo., and Billy Howard of Ceres, Calif.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Karen Howrey in November 2007, of Modesto, Calif.
Memorial services for Carrie Howard were held 2 p.m. on May 5 at Valley View Church in Pineville.

John William Higgs
June 25, 1906-May 1, 2008
John William Higgs, a lifelong resident of Anderson, Mo., departed this life on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Anderson, Mo., at the age of 101 years, 10 months and six days.
John began his journey on June 25, 1906, in Anderson, Mo., son of the late Luther and Marietta (Chapman) Higgs. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during WWII. On May 13, 1929 he was united in marriage to Martha W. Fitton and together they shared 64 years before her passing on Oct. 15, 1994. John worked as a telegrapher for Kansas City Southern Railroad and Gulf Oil Company. He later bought and sold real estate throughout McDonald County. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He was a longtime member of the Anderson United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Martha W. Higgs; three brothers and one sister.
John is survived by his brother-in-law, Bob Fitton of Anderson, Mo., a niece and several nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. John William Higgs were 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, in the Ozark Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Mo., with Pastor Gary Rees officiating. Dalpha Marie Harmon

Dalpha Marie Harmon, 83, of Anderson, Mo., formerly of Pineville, Mo., departed this life on Thursday, April 17, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Anderson, Mo.
Marie entered this life on Nov. 17, 1924, born to the union of Dan and Elizabeth (Browning) Iler. She was united in marriage to Murphy Clayton Harmon and together they shared several years before his passing on Feb. 17, 2002. Besides being a devoted homemaker, Marie also worked for the Tatums Department Store in Anderson. She was a member of the Jane Church of Christ.
She is survived by a brother, Danny Iler Sr. and wife, Inez, of the state of Mississippi; a nephew, Danny Iler Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and cousins, Pinnie Goodwin and wife, Del, of Neosho, Mo., and Virginia Young of El Dorado, Ark.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, at the Jane Cemetery with Bro. Rob Walker officiating. Services were under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo.

Nola Maxine Gasser
Aug. 18, 1926 -April 24, 2008
Nola Maxine Gasser, 81, of Jay, Okla., passed away April 24, 2008, at Monroe Manor in Jay.
Nola was born Aug. 18, 1926, to the late Sherman M. and Della (Kelly) Loftis in Southwest City, Okla.
She spent her youth in Southwest City where she attended Poynor School and later graduated from Jay High School. Nola was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, needlework and crocheting. She attended the First Christian Church in Commerce, Okla., before her illness.
Nola was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Curtis and Loyd Loftis; and two sisters, Beulah Drake and Melba Peek.
Nola is survived by two daughters, Patsy Hertenstein of Springfield, Ohio, and Sandra Sprayberry of Haysville, Kan.; a son, Donald Gasser of Southwest City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Nola Maxine Gasser were 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, in the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City with the Rev. Benny Lukens officiating. Virgil V. Dean
July 7, 1928-May 5, 2008
Virgil Vernon Dean, 79, of Langley, Okla., formerly of Cassville, Mo., was called to heaven at 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark., following an illness.
Virgil began his journey on July 7, 1928, in Tulsa, Okla., one of seven children born to the late Charles Everett and Sarah Olive (Handy) Dean. He was raised in West Tulsa, Okla., and graduated from Webster High School. Virgil enlisted into the United States Navy when he was only 17 years old and proudly served his country during World War II. Virgil married Norma Lucille Robbins on Dec. 24, 1946, at Tulsa, Okla., and to this union two children were born. Norma preceded Virgil in death on July 30, 1996. Virgil married Barbara Frye on April 3, 2004, at the Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Mo. He was the owner of the Seven Valleys Motel in Cassville, Mo. Virgil had an incredible thirst for knowledge and learning new things. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Disney, Okla.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Norma Lucille Dean; three brothers; three sisters; and a step-son, Lloyd T. Frye.
Surviving family include: his loving wife, Barbara Blanche Dean of the home; a son, Paul Edward Dean and wife, Tracy, of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Fay Marie Havlick and husband, Max, of Villa Park, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Sandra Fay Kimball and husband, Gene, of Kellyville, Okla., Christopher Allen Thomas and wife, Robin, of Kellyville, Okla., Roy Dean Thomas and wife, Katie, of Kellyville, Okla., Michael Sean Dean Sr. and wife, Kimberly, of Tulsa, Okla., Charles Aaron Dean of Tulsa, Okla., Matthew Vernon Dean and wife, Monica, of Tulsa, Okla., Mark Bedell Dean of Tahlequah, Okla., Gale Gardner and husband, John, of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 great-grandchildren, Michael Sean Dean, Jr., Michelle Dean, Bryan Thomas and wife, Brittney, Steven Kimball, Allie Kimball, Austin Thomas, Spencer Thomas, Coleman Thomas, Diana Thomas, Skyler Dean, Emily Dean, John Gardner Jr., Noah Gardner and Alexis Gardner; two stepsons, Clarence L. Frye of Purdy, Mo., and Keith A. Frye of Lanagan, Mo.; a step daughter, Elisa Bridgeman and husband, Dean, of Tulsa, Okla.; four step-grandchildren, Stephanie Zinn and husband, Austin, of Lanagan, Mo., Traci Launius and husband, Kenny, of Stella, Mo., Faith Bridgeman of Tulsa, Okla., and Karen Bridgeman of Tulsa, Okla.; three step-great-grandchildren; along with many friends, neighbors and other relatives who will deeply miss Virgil.
Funeral services for Mr. Virgil V. Dean were held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Washburn, Mo. The Rev. Vance Wiley, the Rev. Kenny Hood and Pastor Lawrence Shuey officiated. Burial followed the service at the Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn, Mo., with full military rites being conducted by the Pineville/Jane American Legion Post #392. Grandsons, Michael Sean Dean Sr., Charles Aaron Dean, Matthew Vernon Dean, Mark Bedell Dean, Christopher Allen Thomas and Roy Dean Thomas will honor Virgils life by serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Sean Dean Jr.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 8, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Washburn, Mo. The family received friends at this time.

Josephine Mary Bartels

Josephine Mary Bartels, 86, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Highlands Healthcare & Rehab Center in Bella Vista, Ark. She was born Dec. 19, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Michael and Carmella (Tomaselli) DeLuca.
She married Ernest C. Bartels on Dec. 29, 1951, in Chicago, Ill. She was a homemaker and had lived in Bella Vista since 1991 after moving from Grain Valley, Mo., and Hamburg, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; five brothers, Frank, Joe, James, Sam and Michael DeLuca; three sisters Pauline Sachtscale, Rose Macari and Doris Pellham.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo and husband Ken Tomlin; three grandchildren, Kenny Tomlin and wife, Dana, Bradley Tomlin and wife, Kendra, and Valerie and husband, Adam Owens, all of Bella Vista, Ark.; five great-granddaughters, Hannah, Emma and Lauren Tomlin and Ava Jo and Tessa Owens; one sister, Connie Evola of Ottawa, Ill.; eight loving sisters-in-law, Betty DeLuca, Grace DeLuca, Dorothy Bartels, Ruby Bartels, Sylvia Bartels, Myrtle Busch, LuVerna Long and Carol Moorhouse; one special brother-in-law, Jim Moorhouse; along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Pineville, Mo., with Pastor Marilyn OBrien officiating. Visitation was from 10:30 until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial was in the Pineville Cemetery, Pineville, Mo. Pallbearers were Kenny Tomlin Jr., Bradley Tomlin, Adam Owens, Duane Tomlin, Mike Tamburrino and Brian Ward. Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.

Anna Kate Smith

Anna Kate Smith, 97, of Springdale, Ark., formerly of Anderson, Mo., passed away April 22, 2008, in Springdale, Ark., after an illness.
Anna was born June 13, 1910, to the late John and Stella (Watkins) Davis in Hutchinson, Kan. She spent her childhood there and graduated in 1930. In 1932 she married Dean Smith and to this union two children were born. Anna was a homemaker and attended Tracy Church east of Anderson. She lived in the Anderson area for over 62 years before moving to Springdale eight years ago.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dean in 1994 and a son, Jr. Smith in 1964.
Anna is survived by a daughter, Shirley Bennett of Springdale, Ark.; a grandson, John Gideon of Springdale, Ark.; a granddaughter, Lisa Turner and husband, David ,of Elkins, Ark.; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Reann and Katelynn, also of Elkins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Warren Curtis Haas
Aug. 5, 1928-April 16, 2008
Mr. Warren Curtis Haas, 79, of Southwest City, Mo., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 12:20 a.m. at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a sudden illness.
Warren began his journey on Aug. 5, 1928, in Roscoe, Mo., born to the late Harvey Roosevelt and Fannie Ellen (Reynolds) Haas. He married the love of his life, Vivian Arlene Grissom, on June 30, 1947, in Goodland, Kan., and to this union two children were born. Warren lived most of his life in McDonald County, Mo. He hauled milk for Pet Milk Company in Neosho, Mo., for many years, was a dairy farmer, drove a school bus for the McDonald County School District, owned and operated a custom hay service, hauled eggs for the Grove Egg Company and read meters for New-Mac Electric. He was a faithful member of the Cove Mission of Hope in Lanagan, Mo.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Haas; and two sisters, Elaine Kessler and Olivia Hoyle.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Vivian Haas of the home; his son, Gary Haas and wife, Linda, of Tecumseh, Okla.; a daughter, Linda Rook and husband, Frank, of Joplin, Mo.; a brother, Tony Haas of Lenexa, Kan.; two sisters, Wanda Willques of Pittsburg, Kan., and Glenna Brockman of Calhoun, Mo.; a granddaughter, Cathy Haas of Tecumseh, Okla.; a large extended family; and a host of friends who will dearly miss Warren and his fun loving ways.
Next to God and his family was his love of the outdoors; reading and especially fishing. His fishing partners, G.W. Tompkins and Bob Arnall, were very special to him as was his favorite radio fishing report specialist, Lee Jeffers. His family would like to their appreciation to Integris Grove Hospital, Emergency Room Staff and Dr. Gail Offermann, Med Flight Service Staff, Freeman CVICU Staff and Dr. Nicholas, Joplin, Mo.
Funeral services for Mr. Warren C. Haas will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home Chapel in Anderson, Mo. The Rev. Bob Cartwright will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Anderson Cemetery. Harvey Brockman, Roger Brockman, Glen Brockman, Wilford Englert, G.W. Tompkins and Rod Olsen will honor Warrens life by serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Walker-Dowd Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo. The family will receive friends at that time.

Arthur LeRoy Wright

Arthur LeRoy Wright, 87, of Joplin, Mo., departed this life on Monday, April 14, 200,8 at his home after an illness.
Arthur was born on Feb. 25, 1921, to the late Jess and Vesta (Chapman) Wright near Goodman, Mo. He was raised in the McDonald County area and graduated from Anderson High School. He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corp during WW II. On Sept. 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Paulene Garvin and to this union a daughter was born. Arthur and Paulene have lived in the Joplin area since 1994, moving from Tulsa, Okla., where Arthur worked for American Airlines for 33 and one-half years as an aircraft mechanic. Arthur enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.
Arthur is survived by Paulene, his wife of 59 years; a daughter, Teresa Wright of Tulsa, Okla.; a son, Arthur Dean Wright and wife, Christine, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren, Daniel and Samuel Pickett of Tulsa, Okla., Andy, Stephanie, Lucas and Jimmy Wright all of Michigan; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren Wright and wife, Merl, of Ditmer, Mo.; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Keira Brooke Hemingway, infant daughter of Joshua and Trashell (Hayes) Hemingway, was called to heaven at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
Keira Brooke is survived by her loving parents; her big sister, Shey Lee Hemingway; paternal grandparents, Brent Hemingway of Noel, Mo., and Janice Hemingway of Pea Ridge, Ark.; maternal grandparents, Rebecca and Billy Hayes of Noel, Mo.; several aunts and uncles; a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Christian Lee Robbins

Christian Lee Robbins, 33, of Anderson, Mo., departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2008, in his home.
Christian was born on April 28, 1974, in Gravette, Ark., one of four children. He spent much of his life in the McDonald County area where he worked as a mason for various construction companies. Christian was an avid reader, but most of all he loved the time he was able to spend with his two sons.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Brandi Rooks.
Christian is survived by two sons, Tristan Robbins of Afton, Okla., and Kelon Robbins of Anderson, Mo.; his mother, Connie Robbins of Anderson, Mo.; two brothers, Jeremy Rooks of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Jonathan Rooks of Anderson, Mo.; his maternal grandmother, Arlene Morgan of Anderson, Mo.; and paternal grandmother, Maxine Chavez of Santa Fe, N.M.

Debbie Jolene Brazell
April 28, 1958-April 12, 2008
Debbie Jolene Brazell, 49, of Anderson, Mo., was called to heaven at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a courageous battle with cancer.
Debbie began her journey on April 28, 1958, in Neosho, Mo., one of four children born to Wilford Buzz and Jewell Dean (Leckner) Brazell. Debbie was employed at Dairy Queen in Anderson, Café 71 in Goodman, Tyson Foods in Neosho, part-time at the Osmond Theatre in Branson, Mo., Wal-Mart, Caseys General Store and Community Bank and Trust. She loved horseback riding, scrap booking, crafts, photography, drawing and painting. Debbie was a Crowder College cheerleader and attended BYU in Utah where she became good friends with the Osmond family. Her biggest love was traveling, going on many memorable trips which included Hawaii, Washington D.C. and a visit to the Pentagon. Debbie cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Jewell Dean Brazell on Sept. 2, 2006.

Bobby Max Hobbs died April 12, 2008, at Freeman West Hospital Joplin, Mo.
Max was a special person, enjoyed by both family and friends. He had a funny sense of humor and loved nothing better than a good prank to match his witty sense of humor.
Max was born Jan. 3, 1946, in Stone County, Mo., to E.C. Bud Hobbs and Clara May Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Joy; a daughter, Danielle Hobbs; and granddaughter, Chelsey Mahan; brothers, Dewey Hobbs (Bonnie) of Polo, Mo., Don Hobbs, (Wanda) of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Linda Powell (Donnie) Wheaten, Mo., Mary Washick (Francis) of Purdy; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bub Hobbs and Doyle Hobbs and granddaughter, Alexander Floy.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca from 6 until 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Seneca Cemetery Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Sam Mitchell officiating.

Gale D. Hobbs, 54, of Oskaloosa, Kan., formerly of Winchester, Kan., died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
She was born Jan. 29, 1954, at Atchison, Kan., the daughter of Doran A. and Virgie Ida Penn Hobbs. She had lived in Oskaloosa for a few months moving from Winchester.
Gale was a homemaker. She was a 1973 graduate of McDonald County High School in Anderson, Mo. Survivors include one sister, Barbara Sears, Southwest City, Mo.; four brothers, Doran V. Hobbs of Arizona, Henry H. Hobbs of Oklahoma, Larry G. Hobbs of Lawrence, Kan., and Donnie L. Hobbs of Oklahoma.

SHREVEPORT, La. Mrs. Dena Bell Weaver, 94, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Grace Home after a brief illness. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. on April 17, 2008, in the New Bethel Church. Officiating will be Bob Wilson.
Mrs. Weaver was a native of Anderson, Mo., and a resident of Shreveport, La., for 73 years.
Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her parents, father, Tyra Bell, and mother, Mae Sellers; her husband, Samuel P. Weaver Jr.; a son, Richard Weaver, and his wife, Jackie; a daughter, Joan Weaver; and one brother, Clifford Bell. She is survived by her son, Samuel Weaver and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Samuel David Weaver and wife, Susan, Elizabeth Weaver, Christopher Weaver, Gregory (Tyra) Weaver and wife, Jody; five great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Louise Daugherty, 75, of Goodman, Missouri departed this life on Friday, April 11, 2008, at St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.
Louise entered this life on Nov. 7, 1932, in Heavener, Okla., to the late Louie Milton and Francis Rhilda (Hemphill) Brooks. She spent her childhood in Pittsburgh, Kan., and Oakland, Calif. At the age of 14 she went to work as a waitress. Later she worked as a data controller, a secretary, and as a nursing home administrator in Girard, Kan. After living in Phoenix, Ariz., for 21 years, she moved to Goodman in 1997. On April 27, 1985 she was united in marriage to Clint Daugherty. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1998. Louise loved to laugh and truly enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francis Kilpatrick, and a brother, William Brooks.
Louise is survived by four sons, Gary Malone of Goodman, James Davidson and wife, Brenda, of Neosho, Mo., Clyde Davidson and wife, Debbi, of Goodman and Allen Davidson and wife, Kris, of Prescott, Ariz.; three brothers, Jim Brooks of Larned, Kan., Jerry Brooks of Oklahoma City and Mike Brooks of Granby, Mo.; a sister, Glenda Brooks of Granby, Mo.; a step-mother, Ruth Brooks of Granby, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Jean Lee Kreidler, 70, of Noel, Mo., departed this life on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo.
Jean was born on Feb. 25, 1938, in Downey, Calif., daughter of the late A.O. Joe and Fern Emma (Strong) Kelso. She moved to Noel, Mo., as a child. On Sept. 13, 1975, in Gulfport, Miss., she was united in marriage to David A. Kreidler and together they shared the last 32 years. Prior to returning to Noel, she owned and operated a daycare in Gulfport. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Noel, Mo. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and possessed a great love for nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Janet Jayne Trease.
Jean is survived by her husband, David Kreidler; two sons, Mark Alan Trease Sr. of Marshfield, Mo., and Jeffrey Scott Trease of Nixa, Mo.; three grandchildren, March Alan Trease Jr., Drake Alan Trease and Kaylyn Dawn Trease; two sisters, Byrl Saunders and husband, Ron, of Noel, Mo., and Marilee Todd and husband, Butch, of Sulphur Springs, Ark.; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Marcella B. (Marrs) Gorsline, 93, of Jane, Mo., departed this life peacefully on Sunday morning, April 6, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Marcella entered this life on Oct. 24, 1914, in Jane, Mo., born to the late Walter and Oca (Clark) Harmon. She was raised in Jane, Mo., and graduated from Pineville High School. She was united in marriage to Ray Marrs and to this union one son was born. She and Ray owned and operated the Marrs Store in Jane until his passing in 1959. She also worked as a clerk at the Jane Post Office and later retired from Emerson Electric in Rogers, Ark. On Dec. 24, 1970, she married Charles Bob Gorsline and moved to Gravette, Ark. In 2000 they left Gravette and returned to Jane. Marcella was a gifted seamstress and she took great joy in her hobby. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Marcella dedicated her life to the provision and happiness of her family. She was the McDonald County Democrat Committee Chairman for several years and was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ray Marrs and Charles Bob Gorsline; and nine siblings.
Marcella is survived by her son, Ted Marrs and wife, Joyce, of Jane, Mo.; two grandchildren, Tim Marrs, Kim and Tammy Grider and Toby, all of Jane, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Link, Lissa Grider, Allie Grider and Katylan Marrs; a brother, Ferrel Pete Harmon of Jane, Mo.; a sister, Ava Hudgen of the state of California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Mary Evelyn (White) Shinn, 71, died at the home of her daughter in Jane, Mo., on April 5, 2008, surrounded by family, friends, and hospice care.
Mary Evelyn was diagnosed with the rare genetic disease, Von Hippel Landau, at an early age. At the time, it was known to place limitations and significantly shorten life expectancy. Mary exceeded all expectations. It is believed that her life in years was a record for one with this disease. In extraordinary ways, Mary never allowed herself to be defined by Von Hippel and limitations. She had the strength and resilience to survive the full spectrum of this progressive disease from loss of sight to renal failure. The medical profession from St. Louis to Boston, as well as all that knew her, marveled at her ability and perseverance to live life to the fullest. Mary had a deep faith, loved and lived with great joy with her family, friends, and community. Her can do attitude allowed her to actively pursue a life style that was marvelous to witness. Mary possessed many talents from the ability to listen, a contagious laugh, and unbelievable ways in the kitchen and needle work. Her quilting hobby resulted in many beautiful quilts.
Mary was born, June 26, 1936, in Jane, Mo., the daughter of the late Finis White. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Owetta (White) Smith. She married David Lee Shinn on Feb. 26, 1954, and graduated from White Rock High School in May 1954. They made their home in Pineville prior to moving to the farm in Jane in 1991.
She was preceded in death by her father, Finis White; parents, Raymond and Owetta Smith; and her husband of 51 years, David Lee Shinn on Jan. 28, 2006.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Pam Jones and husband, Rick, of Jane, Mo.; a granddaughter, Michelle Lee Davis and husband, Chris, of Branson, Mo.; a step-granddaughter, Amy Rogers and husband, Eric, of Grain Valley, Mo.; three step-great-grandchildren, Alexandra Davis and Emily and Hunter Rogers; a sister, Judy Kirby of Jane, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Simcoe of Richardson, Texas; three nieces, Trudy Townsend and Kim Russell both of Jane, Mo., and Tracy Ezelle of Ft. Worth, Texas; seven great-nieces and -nephews, Ashley Slinkard, Colt OBrien, Shane Russell, Kylie Russell, Kirby Townsend, Katie Marrs and Garrett Ezelle; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Shinn were 3 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Jane, Mo., with Pastor Jamey Cope officiating. Burial was in the Pineville Cemetery in Pineville, Mo. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Mark Eaton, Josh Eaton, Rick McClain, Randy Cowger, Tim McClain and Jody Townsend. Melvin Largent, Chuck Heirford, M.L. Johnson, George Pogue, Frankie Lewis and Leon Russell served as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Ronald Ray Davis, 51, of Seneca, Mo., formerly of Southwest City, Mo., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at 6:43 p.m. at the Freeman Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Mo., following a short illness.
Ronald began his journey on Oct. 5, 1956, in Joplin, Mo., one of five children born to the late Harley William and Norma Jean (Prevo) Davis. He lived in Seneca, Mo., for most of his life. Ronald enjoyed carpentry work, collecting hot wheels and listening to music at the Cornerstone Church in Southwest City, Mo. In his younger years he attended the Warner Baptist Church with his mother.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Davis in 1986; one brother; and two sisters.
Ronald is survived by his brother, David Davis and wife, Nova, of Southwest City, Mo.; a nephew, David Davis Jr. of Moberly, Mo.; two nieces, Beverly Franklin of Southwest City, Mo., and Margo Davis of Carthage, Mo.; and friends and neighbors who will dearly miss Ronald.

Murriel Marie Clemons

Murriel Marie Clemons of Neosho, Mo., passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Mo., following a short illness.
Murriel Marie Clemons was born in a log cabin nestled in the rolling hills of McDonald County. She was one of five children born to Jake and Jessie (Cook) Milleson. Murriel graduated from the Pineville High School and Southwest Missouri State University. She was an educator for 25 years in the East Newton School District as a home economics instructor, PE instructor, as well as coach of girls sports.
Murriel was married to her high school sweetheart, Paul Clemons. He preceded her in passing as well as her father and mother, and two brothers, Jake Milleson and Virgil Milleson.
Surviving family include: a daughter, Sherry Landon and husband, Gerald; a son, Richard Clemons and wife, Tausha; a brother, Warren Milleson and wife, Shirley; a sister, Lois Eberle and husband, Don; two sisters-in-law, Myra Milleson and Julia Milleson. Also surviving are grandchildren, Richard Davidson II and wife, Jennifer, Nicholas Landon and Tyler Clemons, Austin Clemons and Cameron Clemons, and one great-grandchild, Kyndall Davidson.
Murriel lived her life for her children and grandchildren and loved to spend time enjoying the beauty of Big Sugar Creek.
